Understanding Our Product Range
Ferrous Metals
Ferrous metals are those based on iron, and they provide the strength that most mechanical and structural applications require. Our ferrous range includes stainless steel for corrosion resistance, stainless steel pipes for fluid handling, carbon and alloy steel for shafts and gears, tool and die steel for tooling, cast iron for machine parts and chrome bar for hydraulic cylinders. Each material suits particular duties, and the choice of grade within each family makes a big difference to performance.
Non-Ferrous Metals
Non-ferrous metals contain no significant iron and are valued for properties such as light weight, conductivity and resistance to corrosion. We supply aluminium for lightweight structures and marine work, brass for fittings and decorative parts, bronze for bearings and marine hardware, copper for electrical and thermal applications, lead sheet for shielding and sound proofing and zinc for galvanising and cathodic protection. Many of these materials machine easily and finish attractively.
Plastics and Sheet Products
Engineering plastics and sheet products complement metals where weight, chemical resistance, noise reduction or design flexibility matter. Nylon and HDPE are used for gears, bushes, liners and wear strips, PVC and other plastics are used in fabrication and signage, and perforated sheet serves filtration, ventilation and architectural needs. These products are lightweight, resist corrosion and are easy to work with.
How to Choose the Right Material
Selecting a material starts with the application. Consider the load, the environment, the temperature, the method of manufacture and the required life. Then consider form and size so that you waste as little material as possible. Our team can help with each step. Browse the product pages for typical grades, forms and uses, then contact us with your requirements for pricing, availability and cutting to size. We would be glad to help you find the right material for the job.
