What Is Copper?
Copper is one of the oldest engineering metals and remains essential because of its exceptional electrical and thermal conductivity. It is ductile, easy to form and join, and naturally resistant to corrosion in many environments. MECH TECH ENGINEERS EQUIPMENTS TRADING LLC supplies copper bar, flat bar, sheet, plate and tube in Abu Dhabi to electrical contractors, panel builders, heat transfer equipment makers and engineering workshops across the UAE.
Copper Grades
ETP copper, usually specified as C101 or C110, is electrolytic tough pitch copper with very high conductivity, and it is the standard material for busbars, earthing and electrical conductors. Oxygen-free grades are available for special electronic and vacuum uses. Beryllium copper is a high strength copper alloy that retains good conductivity, and it is used in springs, connectors and non-sparking tools. The right grade depends on the balance of conductivity, strength and formability your design requires.
Forms and Applications
We supply copper in round bar, flat bar, sheet and plate, and tube. Flat bar is widely used for electrical busbars, switchgear and earthing connections. Sheet and plate are cut and formed for heat exchangers, gaskets, roofing and decorative work. Tube is used in plumbing, refrigeration and heat transfer, while round bar is machined into terminals, electrodes and contacts. Working With Copper
Copper is soft and gummy to machine, so use sharp tools, generous clearance and plenty of coolant for a clean finish. It can be brazed, soldered and welded, although its high thermal conductivity means a lot of heat is needed for welding. Copper tarnishes over time, which does not harm electrical performance but can be cleaned or lacquered for appearance. Keep bars clean and dry, and avoid contact with dissimilar metals in damp conditions. We can cut copper bar and sheet to size on request.
