What Is Lead Sheet?
Lead is a very dense, soft and flexible metal that is easy to cut, bend and shape by hand. It resists corrosion extremely well and does not harden with age, so lead sheet has been used for centuries in roofing and weatherproofing. Its density also makes it very effective for blocking radiation and sound. Types and Properties
We supply pure lead and antimonial lead in sheet and roll forms. Pure lead is the softest and most formable, and it is the usual choice for flashings, roofing and acoustic work. Antimonial lead has a small amount of antimony added to increase hardness and strength, which suits chemical linings and applications where the sheet must hold its shape better. The thickness you need depends on the purpose, for example heavier sheet is used for radiation shielding than for flashing.
