What Is Zinc?
Zinc is a bluish-white metal best known for protecting steel from corrosion. Because zinc corrodes in preference to iron, it acts as a sacrificial coating or anode, protecting the steel beneath it. It also has a low melting point, which makes it ideal for die casting. Zinc Products and Grades
We supply zinc in bar, anode and sheet forms. High purity zinc at 99.99 percent is used where a clean, consistent material is required, such as galvanising baths and alloy production. Zinc anodes are fitted to ships, offshore structures, tanks and pipelines to provide cathodic protection, sacrificing themselves slowly in place of the structure. Zinc sheet is used for roofing, cladding and various fabricated parts, as it develops a stable protective patina.

Handling and Storage
Zinc should be stored dry and with good ventilation, because damp stacked material can develop white corrosion products on the surface. Wear gloves and standard protective equipment when handling, and take care when melting or heating zinc because fumes can be harmful. Keep anodes clean and free from oil or paint before installation so that they can work properly. We can supply quantities for single jobs as well as ongoing project requirements.
